Nothing says summer quite like a bowl of homemade ice cream, and M&M Chocolate Chip Ice Cream is a delightful way to celebrate the season! This recipe combines the classic creamy texture of chocolate chip ice cream with the colorful crunch of M&M candies.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup M&M candies (a mix of regular and mini for variety)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is fully dissolved. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the ice cream base for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for churning. Typically, this takes about 20-25 minutes until the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency.
In the last 5 minutes of churning, add the chocolate chips and M&M candies.
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container. Press a piece of parchment paper directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals from forming, then seal with the lid. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
