This simple yet satisfying dessert combines the crispness of fresh apples with the rich flavors of chocolate and the satisfying crunch of nuts. Not only are these apple slices a visual treat, but they also offer a healthy twist on classic desserts.
Ingredients
Scale:
3 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
Juice of 1 lemon
1 cup dark chocolate chips (or semi-sweet)
2 tablespoons coconut oil (optional)
1/2 cup mixed nuts (such as walnuts, almonds, or pecans, chopped)
1 tablespoon sea salt (optional)
Instructions
Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, core them, and slice into 1/4-inch thick rings or wedges.
In a small bowl, combine lemon juice with a tablespoon of water. Dip each apple slice into the mixture to prevent browning.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until fully melted.
Dip each apple slice into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top and add a pinch of sea salt if desired.
Chill the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until the chocolate is set.
Serve the apple slices immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
