Description
These pastries are layers of buttery, flaky goodness with a delightful crunch of sesame seeds and a smooth, sweet surprise of chocolate chips. Perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1/2 cup ice water
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Extra sesame seeds for sprinkling
Instructions
In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut or rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the ice water, stirring with a fork until the dough starts to come together. Do not overmix.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly until it forms a cohesive ball. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Remove the dough from the refrigerator. On a floured surface, roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Sprinkle the chocolate chips and sesame seeds evenly over the dough surface.
Starting with a long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 1-inch thick rolls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg and sprinkle with additional sesame seeds.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and p■.
