Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Prepare your caramel sauce if making from scratch. Melt sugar until it turns golden brown, then add cream and stir until smooth.
  7. Once the cake is done, allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. Poke holes throughout the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  8. Pour the caramel sauce over the warm cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  9. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in vanilla extract.
  10. Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the whipped cream frosting over the top of the cake evenly.
