A delightful dessert that marries the sweet, tart flavor of fresh apples with a fragrant cinnamon sugar topping, creating a cozy dish perfect for chilly evenings.
Ingredients
Scale:
6 cups of apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 medium apples)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well, then add the cold butter pieces and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Evenly distribute the oatmeal topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish, patting it down gently.
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
Once baked, remove the crisp from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
