Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine mozzarella, Parmesan, pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 12x16 inches.
  8. Spread the cheesy filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  9. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log, pinching the seams and ends to seal thoroughly.
  10. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the stromboli.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Allow the stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
