A delightful recipe designed to bring rustic charm to your dinner table with a combination of savory meat, tender potatoes, and a rich, creamy sauce.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 lb potatoes, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup spinach (optional, for added nutrients)
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken or beef broth
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon for about 7-10 minutes.
Once the meat is fully cooked, remove it from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent, around 5 minutes.
Add the thinly sliced potatoes to the skillet. Stir them occasionally, cooking until they start to become tender, approximately 10 minutes.
Return the cooked meat to the skillet, mixing it with the potatoes and onions. Allow the mixture to cook together for a couple of minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, broth, flour, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth. Pour this mixture over the meat and potatoes in the skillet.
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the potatoes are fully tender, about 15-20 minutes.
For a touch of color and freshness, stir in the spinach during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
If desired, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top and let it melt before serving.
