Ingredients
Scale:
8 ounces of linguine or fettuccine pasta
1 pound of fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 cup of heavy cream
1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped
Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine or fettuccine and cook according to package directions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of pasta water.
Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Create the Cream Sauce: Lower the heat and add the heavy cream to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
Add Cheese and Season: Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet. Toss gently to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of reserved pasta water.
Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and optional red pepper flakes. Serve immediately.
