A moist apple bread recipe with a cinnamon swirl, perfect for fall and cozy gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk until fully combined.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and additional cinnamon.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter, smooth the top with a spatula, and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Using a knife, gently swirl through the batter to create a marbled effect with the cinnamon sugar.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
- Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve as a delightful breakfast treat or a comforting dessert.
