A delightful treat that combines the warmth of cinnamon with the comforting texture of a moist cake, topped with a creamy frosting.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
4 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
8 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10-inch bundt pan with non-stick spray or butter.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon until fully combined.
Combine the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Prepare the cinnamon swirl mixture: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, stirring until evenly mixed.
Layer the batter and swirl mixture: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared bundt pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top, followed by the rest of the cinnamon mixture. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the mixtures together.
Bake the cake: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the cake: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the cream cheese frosting: While the cake is cooling, make the frosting by beating the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
Frost the cake: Once the cake is completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the top and sides of the cake.
