This delightful bread takes inspiration from the famous cheddar bay biscuits served at a popular seafood restaurant chain. With its cheesy, buttery flavor and hints of garlic, it’s a favorite among many.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon black pepper
¾ cup milk (whole or buttermilk for extra moisture)
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing on top)
1 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)
Additional chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper. Whisk together until well combined.
Combine the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg until blended.
Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined.
Add the cheese: Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Shape the bread: Using a large spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake the bread: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Brush with garlic butter: Once out of the oven, immediately brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with additional garlic powder.
Cool and serve: Allow the cheddar bay biscuit bread to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
